Success Stories

Joseph Viglotti, M.D., FACEP
Former Owner
Emergency Services Medical Corporation (ESMC)

Dr. Joe Viglotti entrusted his large accounts receivables for his Emergency Services Medical Corporation (ESMC) with HRA Medical Management, Inc., for almost ten years, prior to the sale of the company, because he had such confidence in the management team of Anthony Vacchi, Jr., CHBME, President &CEO, Kathy McGuirk, CPC, VP Operations and other key staffers. In addition, “Tony, Kathy and their staff were very responsive and communicated constantly regarding the changes in the complex world of healthcare billing.

“HRA is an incredibly competent organization that was always very responsive to our needs. They were always able to provide key data and information and designed management reports that made it easy for me to evaluate our services and collection activity so we could be accountable to our clients,” Dr. Viglotti stated.

“When it came to getting any information in regards to charges, payments, adjustments and accounts receivable, HRA always provided very clean, reliable and balanced data and reports. In fact, as financial classes and insurance companies changed, that data was reflected in the revised AR files each month, which was very helpful,” commented Eric Viglotti, ESMC's Head of Systems Development and Data Analysis.

HRA was also very responsive to developing a capitation reimbursement program for ESMC that was likely the largest emergency department capitation program in the country.

“We were under contract for 350,000 managed care lives receiving care at seven hospitals, so it was very important to us that our billing company was responsive to our needs. HRA added tremendous resources to their organization, including a major upgrade to their computer system, which enabled them to quickly and easily respond to our steady stream of requests for information,” Dr. Viglotti said.

HRA also helped improve ESMC's collections by 10 percent from their previous billing company.

“Overall, HRA was very responsive to our needs. If we needed a specific product line evaluated, they were always able to provide us with the data and reports. It was a great relationship in that they would listen to my requests and fulfill my needs in a quick, reliable and professional manner,” Dr. Viglotti added.

Art Gruen, M.D., FACEP
President & CEO
Emergency and Acute Care Medical Corporation
President & CEO
Emergency Services Medical Corporation
Medical Director and Chief of Emergency Services
Sharp Memorial Hospital

In addition to being Medical Director and Chief of Emergency Services for Sharp Memorial Hospital, Dr. Art Gruen also services 30 hospital programs, representing approximately 2,000 specialty physicians as President and CEO of Emergency and Acute Care Medical Corporation and Emergency Services Medical Corporation. He relies on HRA Medical Management for billing, reimbursement and collections for more than 5,000 patient visits per month.

“The main reason HRA and I get along so well is that we're both committed to compliance,” Dr. Gruen stated.“Equally as important is customer service, responsiveness and credibility,” he added.

Emergency and Acute Care medical Corporation solves ED call panel issues to make sure physicians are on call to emergency rooms. Dealing with a full range of specialty physicians including cardiologists, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, surgical and internal medicine as well as emergency medicine physicians, the billing issues are even more complex.

As it gets tougher and tougher to collect from payers, Emergency and Acute Care medical Corporation relies on HRA to be diligent and thorough while, at the same time, maintaining compliance with all the new Federal and state laws. These specialized billing services also require a meticulous understanding and relationship with the insurance companies and other payers. This is why they have been successful in increasing reimbursement and collections for Emergency and Acute Care Medical Corporation.

“HRA performs very well in terms of increases in reimbursement and the performance in collections is superior!” Dr. Gruen said.

In addition to his satisfaction with HRA's billing and collections experience, Dr. Gruen is even more satisfied with the customer service he receives.

“I really value the relationship I have with Tony Vacchi (President of HRA). He is extremely accommodating and flexible in working out mutually agreeable solutions to how our two companies interface,” Dr. Gruen said.

It is clear that HRA is committed to maximizing reimbursement for Emergency and Acute Care Medical Corporation and Emergency Services Medical Corporation and all their clients, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!
